What Your Membership Actually Includes

At most gyms, membership buys you entry. At Highland Mercer, it buys you a coached training environment every time you walk through the door. Our three membership tiers are structured around how much one-on-one programming and personal coaching contact you want — but all three share the same open-gym floor with active coach presence, the same fourteen-person-capped group classes, and the same recovery wing. We don't waterfall the good stuff behind premium tiers. The baseline is coaching; the tiers stack more of it.

Membership Questions, Answered Plainly

Is there a contract or minimum commitment?

All memberships are month-to-month with no lock-in contracts. We require 30 days' written notice to cancel, which you can submit via the member app or by emailing us directly. We don't believe in trapping people — if this gym isn't working for you, we'd rather know why and try to fix it.

Can I try the gym before committing to a membership?

Yes. Every prospective member is invited to a free 45-minute orientation session with a coach. You'll tour the facility, get a baseline movement screen, and train through a short coached workout. There's no sales pressure at the end — just an honest conversation about which membership tier makes sense for your goals.

What happens if I need to pause my membership?

You can freeze your membership for up to 60 days per calendar year at no charge. Life happens — travel, injury, family obligations. We hold your spot, your coach relationship, and your programming notes so you pick up exactly where you left off.

Do I need prior gym experience to join?

Not at all. The Foundation tier was specifically designed with first-time gym members in mind. Your first month includes a four-session onboarding sequence where a coach walks you through every piece of equipment, foundational movement patterns, and how to use the floor during open-gym hours safely and productively.

Are personal training sessions with a specific coach, or whoever is available?

Performance and Elite members are matched with a primary coach based on your goals, schedule, and coaching style preferences. Your personal training sessions are with that coach unless you request a change or there's an unavoidable schedule conflict — in which case, we arrange coverage with another certified coach and notify you in advance.

Does my membership include nutrition coaching?

The Performance tier includes a nutrition framework consultation — a structured 60-minute session covering macronutrient targets, meal timing, and practical daily habits. It's guidance, not a rigid diet plan. Ongoing, detailed nutrition coaching is available as an add-on for any tier at $55/mo.
