Our coaches are here to answer questions, show you around, and help you figure out which membership makes sense for where you are in your training right now.
When you contact Highland Mercer, you're reaching a coach or a member of our front-desk team who trains here and knows the programming. We respond to emails within four business hours during the week and before noon on Saturdays. Phone calls during gym hours go to the desk, not a voicemail system. If you have a specific question about whether our programming fits an injury history, a competition timeline, or a schedule constraint, ask it — we give specific answers, not sales scripts. Our address is 1847 N. Milwaukee Ave in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood, accessible by the Blue Line at Damen, with street parking available on Maplewood Ave.
Three ways to reach the Highland Mercer team — all of them staffed by people who actually train here.

Athletic clothing suitable for lifting and conditioning — flat-soled shoes are preferred for the lifting floor (cross-trainers or weightlifting shoes, not running shoes). Bring a water bottle; we have a filtered refill station. Towels are provided complimentary for members and orientation visitors.
We don't have a private lot, but Maplewood Ave one block east of Milwaukee typically has street parking available during morning and evening hours. The Damen Blue Line stop is a two-minute walk and is our members' most common commute route.
Plan to arrive ten minutes early so we can get a brief intake form completed before your session starts. Your coach will use that time to review any injury history or physical limitations before the movement screen begins.
Absolutely. Guests are welcome to attend an orientation alongside you; they'll each receive their own intake and movement screen. Just let us know when you book so we can assign a second coach and have the paperwork ready for both of you.
45 minutes, no commitment, a real coach — and the clearest picture you'll get of whether Highland Mercer is the right gym for you.
“I emailed at 9 PM on a Tuesday asking whether my lower back history would be a problem for the strength programming. Coach Ben replied that same night with a two-paragraph answer that actually addressed my specific situation. I signed up the next morning.”
